Political police

Mugur Ciuvica has come out with two documents that prove that SRI (Romanian Intelligence Service) spied on PNL (National Liberal Party) in 2006. The notes are signed by general Vasile Stanciu, a former officer of the communist secret service (Securitate) who had worked with Basescu at Anvers before 1989.
The addresses accompany the materials drawn up by the "Group of Evidence within SRI" and they refer to "statements of Liberal Senator Norica Nicolai" and to the "PNL's intention to coagulate a Liberal right-wing pole in the Republic of Moldova". The second document is approved, stamped and signed by Florian Coldea, deputy of the SRI director, the one involved in the notes exchange scandal on the espionage of three magistrates of the Constitutional Court. SRI claims that it knows nothing of the "Group of Evidence". This group was led by general Stanciu, now retired, former head of the Unit of under cover officers in SRI, who, one might conclude, infiltrated also in PNL. Mugur Ciuvica asks for an investigation at SRI for carrying out political police activities, unless the service led by George Maior was able to prove the fact that the activity of Senator Norica Nicolai and that of PNL put to danger the national security. The Liberals convoked the SRI director at the Parliamentary Committee. Last night, Basescu annulled in the last moment his participation at the closing of the "Enescu Festival". (...)
