Political telenovela loses audienceDan Pavel – Ziua – read here -
Basescu's failed referendum and the low interest of the voters for the Euro-parliamentary elections are the direct consequences of the vote of censure the electorate has given to the autochthonous political actors. These political actors, both individual and collective, perform in a lowest quality soap opera. Although many people like telenovelas, "manele" (music style from the Balkans, mainly derived from Turkish, Greek, Arab or Serbian love songs; originated in Romania) and cheap unrefined entertainment, the public comes to like less and less political soap opera. It doesn't attract spectators any longer. Seats have been unoccupied, halls have been empty at the latest elections. Stadiums have also been empty. Populism doesn't make a stand under any circumstances any longer, a sign that we have integrated into Europe”.

Basescu, the referendum - a major failureAdrian Ilie – Ziua – read here -
The head of State assumes the referendum outcome. The leader at Cotroceni Palace counts on a Democrat (Democrat Party - PD) - Social Democrat (Social Democrat Party - PSD) collaboration of the implementation of the uninominal voting system“.

Analyses inside the Social-Democrat PartyD.I. – Ziua – read here -
The Social Democrats (PSD) might decide today whether they would force the Liberals' hand to come to power. Also, they will analyze, at the Executive Committee meeting, the result obtained in the Euro-elections. Information circulated all along last week about a possible sanction for the branch leaders with a weak score in the voting or about pushing to the organization of an extraordinary Congress of the party due to the unsatisfying result. And yet it is quite unlikely that the Social Democrats choose one of these alternatives”.

Voronin continues his attacks against RomaniaD.E. – Ziua – read here -
Voronin referred to president Traian Basescu's recent statements on a possible rejoining of the Romanians of the two banks of the Prut River within the EU. He accused Romania, by saying that, after having become an EU member state, it nourishes the reunification dream, according to a Rompres agency release. However, this is not going to happen, said Voronin, invoking "the 650 years of Moldavian statehood", one of the ideas the communist authorities in Chishinau have obsessively promoted lately. "If it were to take Bucharest seriously, all the treaties following the WW II should be revised. This would mean a revision of the whole Europe, and it would Romania itself back as a boomerang", said the leader in Chishinau. Voronin also tackled the issue of reactivating, by the Romanian Orthodox Church (BOR), the three dioceses within the Bessarabyan Metropolitan Church”.
