“The persisting clues on the negative vote was the dimension prevailing in this double, misfortunate electoral campaign. According to the messages released by all parties, there was one single reason why to vote: to sack the enemies ! Enemies in power or in the opposition, it mattered very little. The poor electors were persuaded into thinking that last Sunday's election, like all the previous ones, was not the outcome of processes normal in a consolidated democracy, but on the contrary”.

“The President of Romania Traian Basescu claimed in his interview to the El Pais daily in Spain that Romanians weren't treated like European citizens, which the Romanians both abroad and in the country could feel. While in Madrid, he thanked God that Spain "hasn't got to act like Italy", which has vexed the Italian press reporting yesterday on his statement“.

“The European Commission is dissatisfied with the negotiations on the car matriculation fee with Romania. Therefore the institution decided to pass on to the second infringement stage. It is to be noticed that the first matriculation car is of a deeply fiscal nature, as settled in the Fiscal Code. So far it has supplied the budget with about 240 million Euro and Romanian officials wouldn't give up the money that easy. On the other hand, Brussels officials have started the infringement procedure also to make sure that the 112 European emergency number works”.
