“After scoring so many points in polls, why is the PNG (New Generation Party) now collapsing at such speed ? Are the defeats the Steaua soccer team suffered the only reason why Gigi Becali is declining to less than 5% ? Why is the PD (Democrat Party) losing so many points too ? Has there been some major change in the party's policy ? Have there been significant changes of the electorate? Has Traian Basescu's public image deteriorated so much that it is now causing the presidential party to go down ? And why is the PNL (National Liberal Party) improving so significantly, although the party should be exhausted of so long governing and although there are so many attacks from Traian Basescu and the DNA (National Anti-Corruption Department) ? Why is this happening shortly after the governor of the National Bank has announced record inflation figures for the latest years ? Which is the reason why the PRM ("Greater Romania" Party) is recovering after the spectacular, unexplainable collapse in polls ? Pope Benedict's high reward for Corneliu Vadim Tudor and the dismemberment of the parliamentary group of the European nationalists, due to the latter politician's insistence for some amendments to the controversial Italian law on expulsions, followed after the latest opinion poll. The mystery is therefore deeper. And why is the PC (Conservative Party) scoring points all of a sudden, whereas the PLD (Liberal Democrat Party) is losing points ? Have these parties done anything uncommon lately ?”.

“Liberal deputy George Scutaru asked the President of Romania Traian Basescu yesterday to unveil the financial sources used for the referendum campaign. The Liberal claimed that the citizens in several cities had received in their mail boxes envelopes with a message from the Romanian President and a calendar printed by the Democrat Party“.

“The Romanian government passed yesterday a law draft according to which the political detainees of the Communist era are going to have all their criminal consequences annulled and they may be paid damages for the moral prejudice suffered. About 80,000-90,000 ex political detainees still alive and their relatives are going to be the beneficiaries of the new law”.

“Should the Bogdan Olteanu, speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, have replied to the Russian ambassador instead of the US one, those who violently criticize him would enthusiastically have acclaimed him. Conventionalist blaming reactions indicate a sad characteristic of the Romanian people, its gregarious attitude (that is why political and media lynching are so successful in Romania). It also shows another characteristic, as sad as the first one: a national inferiority complex. And that's where the international (non-) belonging comes from”.

“Traian Basescu, participated yesterday in a PD electoral meeting at Cluj-Napoca. The head of state has deployed a genuine campaign attack against the PD (Democrat Party) political adversaries, UDMR (Democrat Union of Magyars in Romania), PNL (National Liberal Party) and PSD (Social Democrat Party), by talking of a trans-party system linking all politicians that belong to these parties. As far as the Democrats were concerned nothing but good news. However, the president admitted that there weren't "just saints" in PD. Basescu also mentioned the Government at criticism chapter, and he recalled that the Executive had issued the ordinance of modification of the law concerning the ministerial liability in order to cover the ministers under criminal investigation. Surprisingly, Liberal Crin Antonescu agreed with the president, but reproached him the fact that he didn't come with "names and facts" “.
